FIST AWARDS 2018

FIST Awards are annual awards initiated by Fire & Security Association of India (www.fsai.in). The awards recognize extraordinary contribution of organization and individuals in the field of security, safety, firefighting and emergency response. FIST 2018 will be presented during FSIE 2018 in Bengaluru.


A. Award Categories

CATEGORY 1 – Fire Safety
1 Best Fire Safety in India Objective: To recognize efforts of a company to provide exemplary fire safety standards to employees, assets and environment.

Who can apply: Any of the companies registered in India that have shown exemplary work to enhance fire safety in their company.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: Incidents of fire, losses, injuries, new practices, certification, fire responder and floor warden programs.
2 Best Fire Safety in India – Services Sector Objective: To recognize efforts of a services sector company to provide exemplary fire safety standards to employees and assets

Who can apply: Any of the services sector companies registered in India that have shown exemplary work to enhance fire safety in their company.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: Incidents of fire, losses, injuries, new practices, certification, fire responder and floor warden programs.

Note: The criteria and details are same Best Fire Safety in India however edibility is only for services sector companies. A services sector company can apply for this category as well as Best Fire Safety in India category.
3 Best Fire Safety in India – Manufacturing Sector Objective: To recognize efforts of a manufacturing company to provide exemplary fire safety standards to employees, assets and environment.

Who can apply: Any of the services sector companies registered in India that have shown exemplary work to enhance fire safety in their company.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: Incidents of fire, losses, injuries, new practices, certification, fire responder and floor warden programs.

Note: The criteria and details are same as for Best Fire Safety in India however edibility is only for manufacturing sector companies. A manufacturing company can apply for this category as well as Best Fire Safety in India category.
4 Best Fire Safety in India – Hospital Objective: To recognize efforts of Hospital providing exemplary fire safety standards to patients, employees and assets

Who can apply: Any of the hospital registered in India that have shown exemplary work to enhance fire safety in their premises.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: Incidents of fire, losses, injuries, new practices, certification, fire responder and floor warden programs. Special arrangements done for patients and visitors.

Note: The criteria and details are same Best Fire Safety in India however edibility is only for an active hospital.
5 Best Fire Consulting Project Objective: To recognize efforts of having done path breaking work to ensure a new project is fire safe.

Who can apply: Any of the entities registered in India that worked to get new project operationally active between 1st September 2015 and 31st August 2017. The entity can be end user, consultant, project manager or contractor.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: New technology, new process, practices surpassing standards, effectiveness of system, delivery methodology and timelines.

CATEGORY 2 – SECURITY
6 Best Security in India Objective: To recognize efforts of a company to provide exemplary physical security standards to employees and assets.

Who can apply: Any of the companies registered in India that have shown exemplary work to enhance physical security in their company.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: Security breach incidents, thefts and losses data, new technology usage, new practices, trainings imparted. Integration of electronics and guards to create a system.

7 Best Security in India – Services Sector Objective: To recognize efforts of a services sector company to provide exemplary physical security standards to employees and assets

Who can apply: Any of the companies registered in India that have shown exemplary work to enhance physical security in their company.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: Security breach incidents, thefts and losses data, new technology usage, new practices, trainings imparted. Integration of electronics and guards to create a system.

Note: The criteria and details are same Best Security in India - Hospital however eligibility is only for an active hospital. A hospital can apply for this category as well as Best Security in India category.
10 Best Security Consulting Project Objective: To recognize efforts of having done path breaking work to ensure a new project is secure

Who can apply: Any of the entities registered in India that worked to get new project operationally active between 1st September 2014 and 31st August 2016. The entity can be end user, consultant, project manager or contractor.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: New technology, new process, practices surpassing standards, effectiveness of system, delivery methodology and timelines.
CATEGORY 3 – MAKE IN INDIA
11 Make in India
Best Innovation – Fire Safety
Objective: To recognize efforts of an Indian company that innovated new product or solution in the field of fire safety.

Who can apply: Any of the companies registered in India that have innovated a product before 31st August 2017.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: New innovation, utility, patent/industrial design.
12 Make in India
Best Innovation – Security
Objective: To recognize efforts of an Indian company that innovated new product or solution in the field of security.

Who can apply: Any of the companies registered in India that have innovated a product before 31st August 2017.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: New innovation, utility, patent/industrial design.
CATEGORY 4 – EMERGENCY RESPONSE
13 Best Emergency Response Objective: To recognize efforts of having provided a tremendous response to a real emergency situation.

Who can apply: Any of the entities registered in India that responded to an emergency between 1st September 2015 and 31st August 2017. The entity can be government or private.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: Details on emergency, possible impacts, synchronous sequence of event, pre-emergency preparedness, emergency response, post emergency activities, reduced impact details due to good response, lessons learnt and timelines involved.
14 Best Coordinated Response Objective: To recognize efforts of having provided a coordinated response by multiple agencies to a real emergency situation.

Who can apply: Any of the entities registered in India that responded to an emergency between 1st September 2015 and 31st August 2017. The entity can be government or private.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: Details on emergency, possible impacts, synchronous sequence of event, pre-emergency preparedness, emergency response, post emergency activities, reduced impact details due to good response, lessons learnt and timelines involved.
CATEGORY 5 – EDUCATION & STUDENTS
15 Institute of the Year 2018 – for Fire Safety Objective: To recognize efforts of an institute to upgrade educational standards in the field of fire safety.

Who can apply: Any of the institutes that completed at least one curriculum of a year or more between 1st September 2014 and 31st August 2017.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: Curriculum, relevant to industry, subjects, faculty and their standards, research papers done and other academic contributions.
16 Institute of the Year 2018 – for Security Objective: To recognize efforts of an institute to upgrade educational standards in the field of security.

Who can apply: Any of the institutes that completed at least one curriculum of a year or more between 1st September 2014 and 31st August 2017.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: Curriculum, relevant to industry, subjects, faculty and their standards, research papers done and other academic contributions.
17 Student of the Year 2018 – Fire Safety Objective: To recognize upcoming Fire Safety professionals at their student stage itself.

Who can apply: Any of the students who have done at least two years of curriculum in fire safety subjects between 1st April 2012 and 31st August 2017. The curriculum may be completed or till ongoing. For example, students doing four years’ engineering and having completed at least two years become eligible to apply. Students must have secured at least 60% marks in all semester/yearly examination without failing in any exam.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: Institute and curriculum details, last two years mark sheets, essay on Future of Fire Safety in India – 300 words, extra curriculum activities, any specific projects done, any other significant info.
18 Student of the Year 2018 – Security Objective: To recognize upcoming Security professionals at their student stage itself.

Who can apply: Any of the students who have done at least two years of curriculum in fire safety subjects between 1st April 2012 and 31st August 2017. The curriculum may be completed or till ongoing. For example, students doing four years’ engineering and having completed at least two years become eligible to apply. Students must have secured at least 60% marks in all semester/yearly examination without failing in any exam.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: Institute and curriculum details, last two years mark sheets, essay on Future of Security in India – 300 words, extra curriculum activities, any specific projects done, any other significant info.
CATEGORY 6 – YOUNG PROFESSIONALS
19 Best Young Fire Safety Manager 2018 Objective: To recognize upcoming Fire Safety professionals at their early stage of career.

Who can apply: Any of the young professionals having maximum of 10 years of experience as on 31st August 2017.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: Detailed cv, education and experience details, certifications, essay on Future of Fire Safety in India – 300 words, contribution to industry, any specific projects done, any other significant info.
20 Best Young Security Manager 2018 Objective: To recognize upcoming Security professionals at their early stage of career.

Who can apply: Any of the young professionals having maximum of 10 years of experience as on 31st August 2017.

Critical Area/Data to be submitted: Detailed cv, education and experience details, certifications, essay on Future of Security in India – 300 words, contribution to industry, any specific projects done, any other significant info.

B. Eligibility Criteria Rules & Regulations

  • The project must be completed between 1st January 2015 and 31st August 2017. A project partially completed and operationalized is also eligible.
  • The project and companies registered in India are accepted.
  • Only one nomination form for one project/company in one category will be accepted. Any project/company is allowed to be nominated in more than one category. Separate nomination forms must be filled for different categories.
  • The project/company should have received all regulatory clearances. Any project/company found to have not obtained regulatory clearances will automatically be disqualified.
  • The responsibility of obtaining permission from various other parties associated with the project will be with the person filling the nomination form. If any complaints from end user or other major parties are received as objections the steering committee may decide disqualify the nomination.
  • Last date for receiving nominations is 20th January 2018. Any nominations received after 23:59 hours 20th January 2018 will not be considered, what so ever may be the reason.
  • For company category performance of last two years before 31st August 2017 will be evaluated. For example, safety data linked with incidents, injuries, losses etc. from 1st September 2015 to 31st August 2017 to be furnished.
  • Every nomination form will be judged by five jury members independent of each other. The scores of all the jury members will be averaged to reach the final score.
  • The awards will be presented during FSIE 2018.
  • Decision of jury and steering committee will be final. There is no procedure to submit contest to the final decision.
  • By submitting the nomination form the participant will be deemed to have accepted all terms and conditions. You are also ensuring there will be no contest to the final decision linked to the awards.
